Growing teeth can be a painful time for both mumma and bubba. When babies gums are inflamed they can't sleep and mumma can't sleep.
With my other 2 I would reluctantly give them panadol or other teething solutions from the pharmacy, I knew in my gut that I didn't like it and something never quite sat right with me. When I got introduced to essential oils I was so excited! I finally had a non toxic solution to manage the health of my babies. I want my baby to be able to manage his pain with natural solutions and not overload his little system with medication. This is not because I am anti western medicine but because when he REALLY needs it I want it to work and work well!
So I came up with this recipe to help manage his pain and help his sleep. I rub this on the soles of his feet and across his jaw line where I believe he is teething. This has helped him remain calm, fall asleep and stay asleep.
Lavender and chamomile are both very gentle oils and when used diluted correctly they can be very effective for babies and children. These are also oils that I regularly diffuse in his room to help him stay calm throughout the night. For babies you only want 1-2 drops per 10ml of carrier oil. If your child is older than 12 months you can look up an appropriate dilution guide to increase the amount of drops. I hope you enjoy this little DIY and find it effective for your little one!
What you need
- 10ml roller bottle
- 1 drop of doTERRA Roman Chamilmile
- 1 drop of doTERRA Lavender
- Fractinated coconut oil filled to the top
Rub on soles of feet and along jawline (or on the skin where the tooth is coming through). Do this before each nap and at bed time. I also use it if he wakes in the night.
This is suitable for babies up to 12 months. Always seek the help of a medical professional if you are unsure.
As always I hope you are loving on your oils
